It was our first night in Beijing, and we were all craving for a break. And guess what Andy suggested? Being a Chinese himself, KTV was the way to go! For the less informed, KTV is basically Karaoke Television. Usually a music video played on the TV with lyrics beneath, and you're suppose to sing to the lyrics! Be your own superstar!
We hung out in McDonald's for a while before going to the KTV. On a totally unrelated side note, did you know that most fast-food restaurants in China serve bubble tea as part of their menu? Even McDonald's and KFC! Oh, by the way, I read a business report once that KFC is actually much preferred over McDonald's in China. That's because KFC really tried to adapt to the chinese culture. For example, they have egg tarts and rice on their menus!
Party people.
I'm honestly surprised at the price we paid for the entire karaoke room. It was a total of RMB1400, with change! We had 9 people, 4 hours of karaoke time, unlimited snacks and 60 bottles of beer. Yes, you read right. Sixty. And my goodness, was the room huge! I think Singaporean and Malaysian KTV rooms are really lacking in size when compared to these massive Chinese ones!
KTV with these new friends was so fun! We all sang and laughed the night away!
Even Jimmy loosened up!
Our entire group! But Dwi is missing!
I think this was during Westlife's Flying Without Wings.
This was such a Dreamgirls spoof version. Aren't we just charmer?
The name of the KTV we were at.
It was interesting that it was considered as a private and up-market KTV. And yes, they offered the girls to us. But we refused. We were all joking with Andy that he should say that he had 7 girls with him. And that we wanted the boys! Ah, we the jokers.
The song of the night, in my opinion, was Pocketful of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield. The song is pretty annoying when you hear it on the radio, but singing it during karaoke takes it to a whole new level. Try it. You'll be amazed at the amount of *ahem* sunshine it creates!
